Action Bridge

Breaking the Cycle: From Poverty to Financial Security for All

Mission: Our mission is to empower underserved communities and position them for success through education, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and social services programs to become economically self-sufficient.

Vision: Our vision is to help eradicate poverty through education and financial literacy programs in underserved communities and developing countries.

The best long-term solution to help alleviate poverty is to teach and educate a community rather than merely providing aid. The old Chinese proverb sums up our Action Bridge’s philosophy “If You Give a Man a Fish, you Feed Him for a Day but Teach a Man to Fish, and you Feed Him for a Lifetime.”

Action Bridge is a 501(c)3 organization established in June 2009 with the sole purpose of helping underserved communities become financially self-sufficient by offering programs and services that promote economic growth, support livelihoods through reliable financial systems, and enabling entrepreneurship. Action Bridge seeks to build a culture of dignity, hope, and financial self-sufficiency for low-income populations through our four pillars of change:

  1. Make education accessible to all.
  2. Encourage financial literacy in the low-income population
  3. Support entrepreneurship.
  4. Improve access to Social Services for the underserved community.

Impact

Since our inception, we have provided over $20,000 in microloans in Haiti through our financial training and microloan program to create businesses to earn a living and get on the path to economic self-sufficiency. We currently sponsor education for approximately 40 students and growing in Haiti through our international scholarship program. We provide meals, transportation, uniform, and other school-related fees.

Locally, we have awarded over $25,000 in scholarships to low-income students to help pay college fees throughout South Florida. Action Bridge administers scholarships, mentorship and internship opportunities, financial literacy classes, access to educational seminars to help build out successful career pathways, assistance with accessing and applying to various social services, including services to assist small business owners. We have currently served over 1,000 individuals and small business owners through Action Bridge’s community resource center in North Miami with services that include:

  • Social services (food stamps, Medicaid).
  • Small business development
  • Resources for the unbanked population.
  • Financial coaching and education.
  • Credit and debt management.
  • Employment services and resume assistance.
