How Sponsorship Works

Goals and Objective

The Bridge Sponsorship Program is designed to fight poverty in Haiti by giving access to education one child at the time

Our goal is to reduce poverty by giving access to education to the poor and groom them to become productive members of society. And also give financial training to the single mother. Our goal is help that mother become financially self-sufficient in 3 years and start taking care of their child

What will your sponsorship will do for that child?

  • A relationship with you
  • Education
  • Food
  • Mentoring

How sponsorship helps

Your sponsorship helps provide children with the necessities for a healthy and successful start to their life – nutrition, early childhood and adolescent development, education and school health.

Your generosity also lifts entire communities. Our programs reach children’s parents, caregivers and community members. Together we help save children’s lives, protect them from exploitation and provide them with hope for the future.

How Sponsorship works

Our program targets single mothers who have no source of income. We identify through local religious organizations. Each child is identified and offered the opportunity to participate in our sponsorship program. When you sponsor a child, the parent/guardian is notified by our local staff.

The donations for your child are combined with the gifts of other sponsors and donors – rather than just being giving directly to your sponsored child – to support programs that help make life better for all eligible children and their families in the communities we serve.

Only for full sponsorship, you have the opportunity to write letters and emails to your sponsored child and to receive correspondence from them. You will also receive our quarterly newsletters and get updates from our staffs who work with your sponsored child.

Can you cancel your recurring donation for sponsorship?

Yes you may cancel your recurring sponsorship at anytime you wish. Just do it through your paypal account or send us an email.

For how long do you have to sponsor a child?

We recommend at least 4 years, but you can do it for a month to as long as that child graduate high school

Do you have to choose a child?

No you do not have to. Once you pay the sponsorship, we will match you with a child and send you the child information. However, you can follow us on social media to see some of the children that need sponsors and choose a particular one if you want.

My sponsored Child

If you fully sponsor a child, you are encouraged – but not obliged – to build a friendship with your sponsored child. They are eager and excited to hear from you and about your life, and happy to share about theirs.

Letters and drawings from your child will allow you to learn more about daily life in their own words and experiences. The letters are in your child’s own hand (a parent or sibling may help them if they are too young to write). A translation is provided by our field staff, if necessary.

Their carefully drawn pictures and treasured words will enable you to share in the daily joys and struggles of your child’s life as they grow and prosper.

Child safety policy

Action Bridge is completely committed to conducting our programs in a manner that is both safe for the children we serve and to help protect the children with whom we and our sponsors are in contact with. As a humanitarian agency, we believe that all children have the right to live free of fear or impact of any form of abuse or exploitation. We are obliged to create and maintain an environment that aims to prevent these circumstances and promotes the implementation of our child safety policy. We are confident that our sponsors will join us in upholding this policy so that, together, we can do our best to ensure that the children we help remain safe. While the vast majority of individuals have good intentions, we must safeguard against the few who do not. We are sure you understand the need to protect the well-being of the children we support.

Correspondence (For One-to-One Child Sponsors Only)

In our efforts to keep children safe, we monitor the letters and packages sent to sponsored children. To protect the privacy of all parties, we do not allow children and sponsors to exchange contact information and require that all correspondence be sent through our field offices. Please note that correspondence is only available to individual (one-to-one) child sponsors.

Visits

While visits to our field offices are encouraged, in keeping with our commitment to child safety, all visits to sponsorship areas must be coordinated with Donor Services representatives at our headquarters at least 60 days in advance. Unannounced visits are not acceptable. Please note that the option to “meet” a sponsored child is only available to individual (one-to-one) child sponsors. Prior to visiting programs, a community or a sponsored child, an application form, release form and a background check will be required. We hope you understand that these steps are necessary to ensure the safety of children and their families and they will not discourage you from visiting our programs. Visits can be truly rewarding and life-changing experiences. To coordinate your visit please contact Donor Services or 786.416.8558 to learn more.

For the protection of the children we take any breach of these policies very seriously and, in the unfortunate circumstance that one should occur, we will end the sponsorship relationship immediately and take any necessary legal action if required.

Thank you for joining us in our efforts to keep the children we support safe by respecting our child safety policy.
